The Effects of Kinesio Tape Applied to the Ankle on Selected Physical Fitness Parameters in Youth Basketball Players / Genç Basketbol Oyuncularında Ayak Bileğine Uygulanan Kinesio Bandın Seçilmiş Fiziksel Uygunluk Parametrelerine Etkisi”

ABSTRACT
Aim: This study was conducted to determine the short-term effects of kinesio taping applied to the ankle on selected physical fitness parameters in grassroots basketball players.
Materials and Methods: A total of 28 male athletes aged between 15-16 years participated in the study. Y Balance Test, Vertical Jump Test, 30 m Sprint Test and Sit-and-Reach Flexibility Test were applied to the athletes twice, before and after taping.
Results: According to the results of the analyses, Y Balance Test score was found to be 85.0 ± 4.0 in the post-test while it was 83.2 ± 3.9 in the pre-test (p = 0.001); Vertical Jump value increased from 37.5 ± 3.2 cm to 38.7 ± 3.1 cm (p = 0.001); 30 m Sprint time decreased from 4.81 ± 0.15 s to 4.77 ± 0.14 s, showing a significant improvement (p = 0.018). On the other hand, the results of the Sit-and-Reach Flexibility Test increased from 30.4 ± 2.6 cm to 30.5 ± 2.7 cm, but this difference was not significant (p = 0.594).
Conclusion: It was determined that kinesio taping applied to the ankle improved balance, explosive strength and speed parameters in the short term, but had no effect on flexibility in youth basketball players.

ÖZET
Amaç: Bu çalışma, altyapı düzeyindeki basketbolcularda ayak bileğine uygulanan kinezyo bantlamanın seçili fiziksel uygunluk parametreleri üzerindeki kısa vadeli etkilerini belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır.
Materyal ve Metod: Çalışmaya 15-16 yaşları arasındaki toplam 28 erkek sporcu katıldı. Sporculara, bantlama öncesinde ve sonrasında iki kez Y Denge Testi, Dikey Sıçrama Testi, 30 m Sprint Testi ve Otur-Uzan Esneklik Testi uygulandı.
Bulgular: Analiz sonuçlarına göre, Y Denge Testi puanı ön testte 83.2 ± 3.9 iken son testte 85.0 ± 4.0 olarak bulunmuş (p = 0.001); Dikey Sıçrama değeri 37.5 ± 3.2 cm’den 38.7 ± 3.1 cm’ye yükselmiş (p = 0.001); 30 m Sprint süresi 4.81 ± 0.15 sn’den 4.77 ± 0.14 sn’ye düşerek anlamlı bir iyileşme göstermiştir (p = 0.018). Buna karşılık, Otur-Uzan Esneklik Testi sonuçları 30.4 ± 2.6 cm’den 30.5 ± 2.7 cm’ye yükselmiş ancak bu fark anlamlı bulunmamıştır (p = 0.594).
Sonuç: Ayak bileğine uygulanan kinesio bantlamanın kısa vadede denge, patlayıcı güç ve hız parametrelerini iyileştirdiği, ancak genç basketbolcuların esnekliği üzerinde önemli bir etkisi olmadığı tespit edildi.
